Editorial policy

Her Vitals exists to help you understand women's life-stage health and to judge which supplements the evidence actually supports, from trying to conceive and pregnancy through to perimenopause, menopause and the senior years. This policy explains how we source our claims, who is accountable for the words, how we fact-check, and how to ask for a correction. The short version: every health claim is tied to a named source such as the NHS, NICE or EFSA, a named editor stands behind the site, and content is information, not medical advice.

How we source

Every health claim and figure we publish is cited to a named, official primary source. We draw on the NHS and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for clinical guidance, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) for nutrient intakes and health claims, gov.uk and the Office for National Statistics for data, and Companies House for company information. Where a number cannot be tied to a named source, we leave it out rather than estimate. We do not invent statistics, and we are clear about the limits of the evidence behind any supplement.

Who edits this site

The named editor of Her Vitals is Oliver Mackman, who is accountable for the site's editorial standards and sourcing. His role is editorial oversight and source discipline: he checks that claims are backed by a named source, that reviews separate evidence from marketing, and that corrections are handled promptly. He does not claim subject-matter authorship of individual reviews and is not a clinician. Her Vitals does not employ a medical reviewer; our trust framing is sourcing to named clinical authorities such as the NHS and NICE, not a clinical sign-off.

Evidence, not medical advice

Our reviews weigh what the evidence supports against guidance from bodies such as EFSA, the NHS and NICE, and we separate that evidence from the way products are marketed. Throughout the site we say plainly when something needs a GP, pharmacist or other registered clinician rather than a supplement off a shelf. Content on Her Vitals is general information, not medical advice, and is not a substitute for a registered clinician. Always speak to your GP or pharmacist before starting or stopping a supplement, especially during pregnancy or alongside prescribed medicines.

Use of AI tools

AI tools may assist with drafting and research, but they do not decide what is true. Every published health claim is checked against a named source by the editor before it goes live. Nothing is published unverified, and a claim that cannot be traced to a named source is removed rather than left in.

How we make money and independence

Her Vitals is funded by affiliate commission: we may earn a commission when you buy a product through some of the links on this site, at no extra cost to you. Some pages may also carry advertising in future. Our editorial coverage is independent of any advertiser or merchant: who pays a commission does not influence which products we feature, how we rate the evidence, or what we recommend you discuss with a clinician. We choose what to feature on the evidence, not the payout. See our privacy policy for how cookies are handled.
